Blue Jackets Hit Purdue Campus for 87th Convention

87th FFA AmplifyThe 87th annual Indiana FFA state convention, Amplify, is getting underway on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, officially starting Tuesday. It’s the week where Purdue students, faculty and visitors see the familiar blue jackets in large quantities, possibly nearing 3,500. The state officer team is hoping for record attendance and at convention this year they’ll disclose a new record for total state membership.

Chapter fun nightState Sentinel Joshua Calhoun says he’s most excited about once again seeing the many FFA members the officers were able to meet during the year, and he hopes many will attend the Monday night FFA chapter fun night, “at Purdue Memorial Mall for about 12-13 activities where they can do everything from dunk a state officer in the dunk tank to play in an inflatable and ride in an adult tricycle.”

Annalee Witte, State Secretary is most excited for the opening celebration of the convention.

“We’ve put a lot of hard work into it,” she told HAT. “A lot of our creative energy has gone into making this opening celebration one to remember.” That opening celebration is Tuesday night at 7:00 and the theme is Amplify. She adds the celebration will be heavy on music.
