Ethanol Production Down in Weekly Report

According to EIA data, ethanol production averaged 946,000 barrels per day (b/d)—or 39.73 million gallons daily. That is down 2,000 b/d from the week before. The four-week average for ethanol production stood at 945,000 b/d for an annualized rate of 14.49 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol stood at 20.8 million barrels. That is a 1.4% decrease from last week and the lowest of the year. Imports of ethanol were nonexistent for the 23rd straight week.

Gasoline demand for the week averaged 399.7 million gallons (9.516 million barrels) daily. Over the past four weeks, gasoline demand has averaged 147.3 billion gallons annualized. Refiner/blender input of ethanol averaged 916,000 b/d, down a hair from the previous week but still the second-highest of the year.

Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production was 9.94%. This was the seventh straight week under 10.0%, marking the longest period under 10.0% since the summer of 2013.
