Ordering scrapie ear tags just became easier for Hoosier sheep and goat producers with a new online ordering option from the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH). With the online option, producers may order the free, USDA-sponsored standard tags any time, day or night. The “Scrapie Ear Tag Order Form” link is located on the Sheep & Goat information page at: www.in.gov/boah/2421.htm .
Once information is submitted, the user should receive confirmation of the order from BOAH within 7 days to10 days, then allow 2 weeks to3 weeks for tag delivery. To use this system, producers must already have a scrapie flock ID number and a premises registration number. The system is valid only for the free, USDA-sponsored scrapie tags. All other custom tags must be purchased directly from approved suppliers.
