Anthem Singing Contest gets ready to Kickoff 2nd Season

A national singing contest with sizeable scholarship money is about to kickoff its second year. Sponsored by FMC, the Stand Up and Be Heard Anthem Singing Contest will award a total of $25,000 in mid September to a member of a national agriculture related student organization.
“Any student aged 13 to 21who is a member of FFA, 4-H, student NAMA or any agricultural youth organization is eligible to participate,” says Paul Redhage, FMC Strategic Communications Manager. “They can take their iPhones or digital video cameras and films themselves and upload that. It’s something easy to do, just walk over in the corner and do it, do it at home or do out in the field. Last year one of our final four contestants was out walking among her cattle herd while she was singing, so it was fun.”

Redhage told HAT they’ll also be at many FFA state conventions to help record students. The uploads can begin on March first through June 15^th, and then a combination of online voting and musician and student panel judging will determine the final four who will be brought to Nashville for professional recordings. The Anthem contest served the dual role of investing in farming’s future and promoting their brand new Anthem and Anthem ATZ herbicides for corn. Bob Hooten is FMC Agricultural Products North America technical support manager.

“It gives you the same performance of Authority products on waterhemp and Palmer amaranth in corn. You’re going to get the longest residual on grass that anyone has ever gotten, plus you have all that extra pigweed activity with Palmer and the waterhemp. If you have an issue and you like atrazine we have Anthem ATZ which is good on cockleburs and ragweed, and as one retailer told me, you have the finest formulation of atrazine that I’ve ever seen. He said do not downplay that because it mixes well and cleans out well. He said we finally brought them an atrazine that’s usable.”

Anthem offers flexible application windows from 30 days before planting all the way to early post-planting. Both Anthem and Anthem ATZ received Environmental Protection Agency registration in the 4^th quarter of 2012.
