China Suspends Exports from Logansport Pork Plant using Ractopamine

China announced export suspensions for six major U.S. pork plants and six cold storage facilities based on the country’s ractopamine-free requirements. Meatingplace reports a notice this week from China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine to the U.S. Embassy’s Office of Agricultural Affairs in Beijing indicates that the delistings are due to findings of ractopamine. 

The banned pork plants are Quality Pork Processors in Austin, Minesota, Triumph Foods in St. Joseph, Missouri, Tyson Fresh Meats in Perry and Storm Lake Iowa and Logansport Indiana, and Hormel Foods Corporation of Fremont, Nebraska.  The cold storage facilities banned include Cloverleaf Cold Storage of Fairmont Minnesota, Frozen Assets Cold Storage of Chicago Illinois, Nor-Am Cold Storage of St Joseph Missouri, Millard Refrigerated Services in Edwardsville Kansas, Hanson Cold Storage Company of Logansport Indiana and Americold Logistics LLC of Freemont Nebraska.
