New Solar Farm in Harrison County

Officials from Harrison REMC dedicated a new solar farm Wednesday. The array will use solar power to bring electricity to homes and businesses in Harrison County. Inside Indiana Business reports the 4,300-panel array sits about 15 acres of land near I-64 in Georgetown and will be able to generate enough electricity to power about 150 homes per year. The project cost $2.7 million.

“As a cooperative, our focus is always local and I’m proud that Harrison REMC and Hoosier Energy have taken the lead in bringing utility scale solar and this clean energy resource to the Lanesville community and Harrison REMC members,” said David Lett, Chief Executive Officer of Harrison REMC. “This location is the gateway to Harrison County and I think the solar farm will communicate a positive message about Harrison County and Lanesville,”

It is the third of 10 solar farms that Hoosier Energy is installing as part of its “all-of-the-above” energy strategy. Hoosier Energy is Harrison REMC’s power supplier.
