JBS United Changes Name to Reflect New Direction

A well-known name in Indiana agbiosciences has changed. Sheridan-based JBS United, Inc. is now United Animal Health Inc., a brand the animal nutrition and health company says will differentiate it from any other company named JBS. “Our new name also keeps us connected to our heritage: United Feeds, the name we started with over 60 years ago. We are more focused now than ever on building our nutrition business, adding facilities and people, and expanding into different geographies,” Chief Executive Officer Doug Webel says. “We’ve added Animal Health to our corporate name as we believe that nutrition is health and feel the research we do and the solutions we offer the industry all revolves around the health of the animal.”

Chief Operating Officer Trent Torrance says the more than 60-year-old Hamilton County company has “never had any relationship or connection to with any other JBS company” and the new name makes that “abundantly clear.”

The rebranding includes a new name and logo, as well as “modernization to the way the company does business.” United Animal Health was founded in 1956 has more than 400 employees. In late 2015, founder John Swisher transitioned to chairman emeritus and Doug Webel became president and CEO. Swisher, who built his United Feeds business from the ground-up with a loan from his family, was awarded the 2016 Watanabe Life Sciences Champion of the Year Award.
