The second Indiana Dairy Forum is set for February 6 and 7 at the French Lick Springs Resort & Spa. Indiana Dairy Producers Executive Director Doug Leman told Hoosier Ag Today that the event will be filled with great breakout sessions and keynote speakers, including Gary Sipiorski, a member of the Advisory Council on Agriculture, Industry, and Labor for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
“Gary has always been a very popular speaker for us. We ask him to take a look at what’s the dairy industry look like in the not too distant future? 5 years or 10 years down the road. What are things that are coming that we can’t change? When we’re at home on our farm, we want to change things and fix them. But what’s coming that we cannot change and we’re going to have to learn to conform to?”
Sipiorski will also host a breakout session during the event. Other topics covered will include transition planning for your farm, the current market situation, ag law, among others.
Leman says he knows there are some producers who will say they just don’t have the time to get away from the farm for the event, but… “I think it’s an, ‘I need to get away’ type of event. I want people to come, relax a little bit. I know what it is when things are tough on the farm. Take that deep breath, relax a little bit, meet some friends, make a new friend, find somebody you can speak confidently with. Find those 3 nuggets. Find those 3 things during this forum that you can take home and help to make your operation better.”
And to encourage folks to get registered for the event, a special deal is going on now.
“Any producer in Indiana that registers before our early bird deadline, which is December 31, part of the registration is going to be a credit towards their farm membership this year. So, it’s a little bit of a way that we can give back.”
