More Rains Possible Today Before a Dry Weekend

Today could bring more rains to Indiana, especially northern Indiana. This is the Seed Genetics Direct Harvest Weather Forecast with Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin. Seed Genetics Direct is the Eastern Corn Belt’s fastest-growing independent seed company. Visit to get your Seed Guide with pricing!

While we may see more rain today, Martin’s forecast calls for dry weather on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures well above normal.

“Downright summerlike and given the moisture that we’ve been dealing with over the course of the past week, it’s going to be very humid for Saturday and Sunday. Still though, I think we see pretty decent evaporation and with temperatures way above normal, mid-80s at least with upper 80s in spots, I think we get a fairly significant round of drying that tries to work in here. This drying continues into the start of next week on Monday, but we do have a frontal boundary trying to come together to our west late Monday afternoon and Monday night.”

Martin says that cold front coming in Monday night and early Tuesday seems to fall apart and shifts its biggest threat of moisture farther north.

“That being said, I’m still going to look for a few hit-and-miss showers and thunderstorms, especially over the western half of the state, probably between sunset Monday night and early morning on Tuesday morning. Rain totals can be anywhere from a quarter to maybe three quarters of an inch in far western Indiana. The farther east you go, the more you drift to maybe near nothing. So, 60 percent coverage. We follow that up with a dry Tuesday afternoon, full sunshine and still warm. We are sunny, warm, and dry Wednesday and Thursday. Late Thursday into Friday another cold front comes through but doesn’t have a lot of moisture for us. I think 60 percent coverage with anywhere from a few hundredths to maybe half an inch out of that.”
