Reports of Impressive Corn Harvest Results across West Central Indiana

So far in Indiana, 54 percent of corn and 75 percent of soybeans have been harvested, according to the USDA as of Oct. 23.

Eric Wornhoff, Field Sales Representative with Specialty Hybrids.

Eric Wornhoff, a Field Sales Representative with Specialty Hybrids based out of Boone County, says soybean harvest appears to be at or near completion while corn harvest is picking up rapidly.
“I would say we’re 100% done with soybeans with a little straggling acre or two out there, and maybe there’s some double-crop. Corn is well on its way I could have expected anything like we’ve gotten here in west central Indiana.
Wornhoff says he’s heard reports of impressive results from the corn harvest.
“I had a text from a local farmer in Boone County and for the first time ever, they’ve been able to get 64,000 pounds on one grain cart. That’s a record for that farm,” according to Wornhoff.
With the exception of some frost last week and rain earlier this week, weather conditions have been favorable for harvest across west central Indiana. Wornhoff says many farmers have been able to begin harvesting each day as early as 8:30 a.m. and continue until 9 or 10 p.m. putting in more than 12 hours days to get the job done.
