Purdue’s Indiana AgrAbility Project is teaming up with Vincennes University and non-profit Easterseals Crossroads to sponsor an Assistive Technology Expo at the Vincennes University Agricultural Center on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and will feature demonstrations and experimental learning opportunities with assistive technology available for agriculture.

Admission is free, but limited. Registration is required by Tuesday, February 10.

Those who attend will explore a range of technologies that can make everyday farming tasks easier, less physically demanding, and in some cases, even possible for those with disabilities. From modified tools to adaptive machinery, the expo offers demonstrations and real-world applications of assistive tech in the field.

In the United States, farmers and ranchers rank second among laborers with disabilities due to work-related injuries. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), over 200,000 farmers, ranchers, and agricultural workers sustain occupational injuries each year that limit their ability to perform essential tasks.
