The National Association of Farm Broadcasting held its annual convention in Kansas City this past week. Hoosier Ag Today assistant news director C.J. Miller received the Horizon Award, which annually recognizes an outstanding broadcaster in his or her first five years of professional farm broadcasting work.
Miller joined HAT in 2022 after stops at several Indiana radio stations, including WIBC and Network Indiana in Indianapolis, WRZQ, WYGB, WXLW, and White River Broadcasting’s WCSI, WWWY, and WKKG. He’s a graduate of Ball State’s telecommunications and communication studies programs.
“C.J. has been such a valuable member of the HAT team since his first day with us,” says Hoosier Ag Today president Eric Pfeiffer. “We’re all so proud of his tremendous accomplishment. I’m very glad that NAFB recognized his tireless work ethic and incredible ability to connect with our audience.”
Since joining HAT, Miller has entrenched himself in the Indiana farm community. He served as a member of the Shelby County Ag Promotions Committee and emceed their annual event the past couple of years. He also currently serves as a member of the Indiana FFA Foundation board of directors.
Miller thanked the NAFB, his Hoosier Ag Today team, and several others upon accepting the award.
Also at the NAFB convention, Hoosier Ag Today’s Molly Nichols was nominated and elected to serve on the board of directors representing the Management & Sales Council. Nichols directs all local sales efforts for HAT and handles affiliate relations, serving as the contact point for over 100 radio stations across Indiana, Michigan, and Illinois.
HAT founder Gary Truitt, elected to the NAFB board of directors in 2024 as the East Region Vice President, will serve one more year in that role.
