Biodiesel Industry Ready to Aid President in Call for Climate Action

During his State of the Union Address on Tuesday – President Obama called for bipartisan solutions for climate change. National Biodiesel Board Vice President of Federal Affairs says the biodiesel industry is positioned to play a growing role in cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Steckel says biodiesel is a practical, cost-effective and bipartisan solution that’s already here to solve the climate change problem. The President has already proven his strong support for American-made renewable fuels – she says – and NBB thinks there is tremendous potential for increasing the biodiesel industry’s role. The Environmental Protection Agency has determined biodiesel reduces GHG emissions by 57-percent to 86-percent compared with traditional diesel – so that is one benefit according to NBB. Another benefit is job creation – which a recent economic study shows the biodiesel industry supported more than 64-thousand jobs last year.
