The HAT Soil Health Podcast- Soil Health and Water Quality

Join Eric Pfeiffer for the August HAT Soil Health Podcast presented by the Indiana Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative. This month, Eric chats with Putnam County farmers Mark and Phyllis Legan from Legan Livestock and Grain and Joe Schmees, Executive Director of the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts.

In 2016, the Legans were recipients of the River Friendly Farmer award. They were also recipients of the 2014 American Soybean Association Conservation Legacy Award. They were also featured farmers on the first day of the 2018 Indiana State Fair.

Schmees has worked in the environmental water resources field for 11 years and has worked alongside many Indiana Soil and Water Conservation Districts implementing conservation. He has completed training with Purdue University’s Indiana Watershed Leadership Academy and currently holds offices with both the Indiana Water Resources Association and the Indiana Lakes Management Society.
